SLECA’s tent city for Hurricane Ida was built less than 24 hours after the Category 4 storm made landfall. Managed by Royal Engineers & Consultants-which led Jeff Davis Electric and Cameron Parish disaster recovery programs-it housed more than a thousand lineworkers, tree trimmers and contractors for a month.
Built on land leased by McDermott, the area was prepped by cutting the grass and bringing in limestone to build up the site. Large awnings for boat fabrication provided a perfect cover for dining and sleeping tents and bathroom areas.
